Our Mission
the Butterfly Pea Charitable Foundation is dedicated to assisting in the education and healthcare for the residents of Prek Toal Village and other Khmer communities in and around Siem Reap. While the residents of the Prek Toal community are our primary focus, we also assist other Siem Reap residents in emergency situations. To empower the community and break the cycle of poverty we focus on improving education, medical services, and hygiene knowledge.
Education

A House of Support
the Butterfly Pea Charitable Foundation seeks to complete our primary mission by maintaining close contact with Prek Toal Village to understand the needs of the residents. Representatives of the foundation will visit the village at a minimum of once per month. Our foundation is and will continue to provide books, pencils, erasers, backpacks, and any other materials necessary to enhance the quality of education for the youth. In addition, the Butterfly Pea Charitable Foundation will provide educational guidance to the village water hyacinth weavers to ensure that they have the materials necessary for gainful employment. Through the following activities, we aim to break the cycle of poverty and empower the Prek Toal community.
Deliver necessary educational materials on a monthly basis, to include pencils, books, erasers, markers, backpacks.
Deliver educational games to develop the mind that will assist with problem-solving and critical thinking.
Deliver materials such as volleyballs, footballs, badminton rackets and shuttlecocks for the development of sports and physical fitness.
Ensure classroom settings are properly set up to promote learning by delivering classroom supplies such as chalk, new chalkboards, fans, etc.
Install appropriate toilet and water supplies to promote hygiene.
Provide basic medical care and education for the treatment of wounds with assistance from visiting medical professionals.
Explore ways to assist in teacher development.
Assist with finding housing for those in need.
Provide opportunities for children wishing to attend high school.
History and Transparency
Initial funding for the Butterfly Pea Charitable Foundation has been obtained through a donation from the Deputy Director.
